Balancing the Solar Plexus

A balanced Solar Plexus is a gift to your mind, body and soul. This Chakra provides energy and zest for life, it helps digestion, motivation and self confidence.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located at the base of your ribcage, and governs all the organs of digestion and elimination.

Visually, this chakra is represented by a golden yellow colour, and the element of Fire.

On a physiological level a thriving Solar Plexus Chakra is responsible for regulating energy, vitality and healthy digestion. From an energetic perspective, it governs our self worth, confidence and identity it is also the place from which we can digest new information and manifest all that we want in life.

Signs of Imbalance:

Excessive energy within the Solar Plexus chakra can look like:

  1. Controlling, intolerant or overly competitive

  2. Overeating or overindulging

  3. Fatigue or excessive laziness

  4. A high body temperature

  5. Stomach Ulcers or other digestive issues

A Solar Plexus deficiency can look like:

  1. Feeling powerless, weak or insecure

  2. Lacking self confidence

  3. Seeking approval from others

  4. Digestive distress, IBS

Imbalance is usually caused by a particular energetic blockage, which can be fixed by unblocking the Chakra working to counteract the imbalance present.

3 Part Ritual for Balancing the Solar Plexus Chakra + Aiding the Inner Fire

Part 1:

Begin by lighting a Soy or Beeswax candle. Allow your gaze to come to the tip of the heart of the flame and allow your attention to settle here. You might want to start bringing the warmth of the flame into your body and warming up the area around your solar plexus. Feel this warmth as you continue to settle your eyes of the flame.

Now bring forth thoughts and practices that you wish to let go of, in order to move forward. These will be things like anger, playing the victim, unhealthy attachments or situations that you are resisting. As you bring each one to your attention, imagine burning it in the flame that sits in your gaze. Continue this until you feel all the negativity has vanished into the flame.

Part 2:

Now, close down your eyes, and breathe deeply. Follow a count of 6 on the inhale and 5 counts on the exhale. Feel your breath as it fills up your abdomen, nourishing and clearing any stagnant energy around your digestive system. Now that you’ve cleansed, open your eyes.

Part 3:

Take a piece of paper and a pen, and write down the following:

> 2 things that make you feel good about yourself. These can be affirmations, activities or people.

> 2 things that make you feel alive and joyous

> 2 things that make you laugh

> 2 goals that you wish to achieve in the next month. Break these down into small daily actions you can take to achieve this

Now, commit to incorporating one or two of these things into each day for the next month. Make sure they’re really achievable in your life and bring you joy and satisfaction.

Support the Solar Plexus by incorporating yellow colours into your life. This could look like drinking calendula, turmeric or chamomile tea, eating more bananas, lemons, corn and yellow capsicums. Whole grains are also excellent and boosting digestion.
