Writing this in January of 2020 at a time when we’re experiencing the worst bushfire crisis in our history, when politics is in chaos and the planets are aligned the way they are, it’s actually no surprise that we all feel stressed, emotional and overwhelmed by life.
When we address feelings of stress, fatigue and overwhelm from a naturopathic perspective we need to look at our body as a whole organism, our physical body and our emotional body intertwined as one. On a physiological level, stress suppresses your normal bodily functions and tightens your whole being, stagnating energy so that you end up feeling tired & lethargic. This feeling can be caused by our emotions, our thoughts, our actions or by the energy of people or places around us. Once we understand that everything is connected, i.e. how you think affects your energy levels as well as the health of your skin, it’s easier to connect the dots between cause and effect.
From here we can protect and improve our energy levels by using a few simple nutritional and energetic techniques.

A simple process of recognising & even writing down the things that no longer serve you in your life or that make you feel terrible. Then letting these go by cutting ties, burning them in your minds eye or ripping what you’ve written on paper & discarding in the bin (or compost for a more environmentally friendly way).

VISUALISE WHAT YOU WANT
In a time of chaos or overwhelm it’s important to get clear on what is important to you and what you want to achieve. Take some time to visualize & set out clear intentions will enable you to have a clear focus on what emotional and physiological aspects of your daily lives are truly important to you. Once you’ve identified what’s important, you can then cull all the things that are energetically draining or not aligned with what you want. This practice will help alleviate feelings of stress and overwhelm.
Meditations are a great way to help clear negativity & transmit you to a place of calm and groundedness.
